Hello Reader,

Today, we tackle change because it’s all around us.

Change of heart ❤️ — Change of pace 🐢➡️🐇 — Change in the air 🍃 — Change of Scenery 🏖️ — Loose change🌱✨

Change is movement, and movement is usually good.

So why does change sometimes go sideways?

Okay, the first thing to remember about change, bad or good, is that its very nature is self-describing and self-actualizing.

Stop, breathe, and wrap your head around this:

Something static doesn’t move. Right? Well, technically, wrong.

(Nothing in the universe remains motionless, but for these purposes, I’ll concede that to the naked eye here on Earth, it seems like some things stay still).

Therefore generally, the term “static” refers to something unchanging.

And change?

Well, change is precisely that: movement. Change doesn’t stand still; if you think something has changed, think again.

Because by virtue of the very word, it’s no longer what it was, not even a few seconds ago; it’s something different.

And it will continue to morph because it’s, well…change.

The Cycle of Change

We’re far too close to notice (how’s that for an oxymoron), but change comes in cycles, just like the seasons, perennial plants, or the weatherbad or good, things are always circling around, folks! 🌸☀️🍂❄️

Now, right now, the Earth under your feet is spinning on its axis while hurtling you through space at more than half a million miles per hour.

But that’s okay; hold onto your oatmeal and maybe your hairpiece, kids; here on our level, we only perceive this as day, night, and the change of seasons.

And significant as it is, it’s just not a movement we detect.

But let’s kick the idea of cosmic movement down a few million notches to life here on Earth (wow, on fire 🔥 with the oxymorons today). 😄

If we could take a big ol’ step back and examine the universal cosmic register of data📊, (no need to Google, I made the name up), we’d notice that life on Earth has a funny way of replicating itself.

Just think about it—plague, war, dictators…

The adages What goes around comes around” and “Everything old is new again” are sayings to describe the cycles of life.

In the case of Earth’s history, a significant repeat usually takes quite a while, sometimes even generations. And just like the Earth’s spin that we don’t detect, the mistakes of our forehumans are off our radar, and sometimes we “know not what we do.”

Especially when it comes to bad change, it takes time for the damage to really sink in.

Generations have to live through it, learn from it, and pass down their wisdom—until, of course, those wise folks eventually kick the bucket 💀.

And then, poof, there goes the knowledge of what not to do, and we’re left repeating the same mistakes. 🙄

So, the history of a short time ago may not have enough distance to shake out the repercussions.

Change: Up Close and Personal

Whether it’s slow repeats in history or redo’s in our personal orbit, change is constant. However, change on an individual level can come and go much quicker.

In one way or another, each of us is continually experiencing change.

Change for us comes in all shapes, sizes, and degrees of difficulty: moving to a new place, switching jobs, ending a relationship, or other such upheavals that make us apprehensive.

Or it might just be something simple that puts you over the edge.

Like on a bad day, finding out your favorite latte is no longer available (R.I.P. Triple Mocha Double Whip Extra Coco Foam-a-Chino Supreme🥲).

Even if it’s just a new haircut, you have your own cycles of change.

As much as it doesn’t seem like it sometimes, change is the universe’s way of keeping things fluid. Mullets and all weird haircuts aside, that’s usually a good thing.

But maybe you think you don’t handle some changes very well, that it sometimes puts you into a tailspin.

Well, that could be true of everyone at one time or another, but whether you realize it or not, you’re changing this very second:

Our skin, for example, renews itself every 28 to 30 days! 🗓️ That’s roughly once a month, as old skin cells make their grand exit and new ones move up to take the spotlight.

And the ultimate repeat show? Our own bodies! 💪 Yep, the human body renews itself every 7–10 years, like the ultimate cellular makeover. ✨🎉

So, if you think you don’t handle change well, just remember—your biochemistry is already way ahead of you! And you’re handling it like a pro! ✨

🎉In fact, experiencing change for the worse or better allows us to grow and adapt, which is part of our biological makeup.

But if it’s all around us, why is some change so hard?

Well, change sucks the most when it’s not our choice.

Here’s the thing: humans are creatures of habit. 🦥

Our brains love routine because it gives us a sense of predictability and control of our surroundings —two things our minds (and possibly our DNA) crave. 🧬

For some, when change barges in, it can feel like we’re in Pompeii on that fateful day. Suddenly, things are shaky, unknown, and unpredictable. 🌋

That feels, well, unsettling and maybe downright unsafe!

A human will feel “at home” when things are familiar and in sync with their core beliefs.

So What To Do?

Well, first off, pretending we’re always thrilled by curveballs? Nope!

People – that’s not healthy. 🙅‍♀️

So, let’s just throw that toxic positivity out the window. Kick it to the curb!🚫✨

Sure, sometimes, change simply sucks, I get it.

Feel free to feel the “feels,” but the key is maintaining your higher intelligence.

A New Season is Already on Its Way 🌦️

The good news about change is that it’s like the weather—if you don’t like it, just wait.

Something new and usually better will come along. That’s why I say you shouldn’t just “suck it up” or slap a smile on your face if you’re really not feeling it.

That’s the kind of thing that sticks in your biochemistry, makes you angry, stressed, and sick, and c’mon, there’s enough of that going around; in fact, that’s usually what cultivates bad change.

You’re better than that.

Instead, look at change like a guest that’s moving in the river of life, even if it sometimes overstays its welcome. 🤨 You can handle it.

All you need to do is be stronger and better than the change, and depending on how high the bar is set, that may be easier than you think. 😉

Because as soon as a change is instituted, its evolution begins. 〰️

The human brain is practically wired for adaptation. So even when you’re dragged into change kicking and screaming, your brain is like, “Challenge accepted!”

It’s the whole “sink or swim” scenario, but don’t worry—you’re a better swimmer than you might think.

Just keep a firm handle on who you are and open your eyes to what’s next. 👀➡️🎉

Each time change comes around, your brain gets better at navigating it, spotting silver linings, and finding creative solutions.

In other words, every time life hands you a surprise, you’re not only managing it, you’re leveling up, coming back stronger. ✨🎮

So next time, when change barges in uninvited, take a breath and remember: we’re better equipped than we realize, and future change has its own surprises all ready and waiting for us.
